When I wrote my blog last week, Getting to the Why, I was merely writing my reflections based on the experience with my clients and how they come to understand the process of discovering the “why” as they continue to reach within themselves during the coaching process with me.

Here are three life lessons that I learned at a vipassana meditation retreat:

1. All in life is interconnected.
We live in an incredible web of connectedness. Everyone and everything exist in relation to each aspect of their individual life and each tier of collective life:

• Family and generational
• Social and community
• National and global

People often reach out to me because they feel lost in their careers. I interpret that as being lost, not just in their career but even otherwise! They complain that they are not fulfilled in what they do.

Many job descriptions routinely mention change as one of the competencies in the posted openings. This is particularly true for senior management and executive positions.
